- Stories are mentioned in the Qur’ān to take lessons from.
- Take the advice of parents and implement it.
- Do not tell people everything; sometimes you need to keep things to yourself to accomplish things.
- Beware of people’s jealousy.
- Jealously is very dangerous for those who suffer from it.
- When faced with the temptation and opportunity to commit sin, seek refuge in Allāh.
- Yūsuf عليه السلام preferred imprisonment over disobedience to Allāh; no matter what worldly difficulties we have to endure, we should be committed to refraining from sin too.
- When faced with the opportunity to sin, seek the help of Allāh to reject it.
- To invite people towards Allāh whilst imprisoned is the Sunnah of Yūsuf عليه السلام
- Even in the most adverse of circumstances, you should not become neglectful of your duties.
- Allāh does not let the plots of the deceivers succeed.
- Try what you can in terms of using permissible worldly means to get yourself out of trouble.
- Be careful of whom you trust, especially if you’ve had negative experiences with them in the past.
- Take precautions for protecting yourself and loved ones from the evil eye.
- For every knowledgeable person, there’s someone more knowledgeable than him.
- In sadness and grief, turn to Allāh.
- Whoever adopts taqwā and bears patience, Allāh does not let their rewards go to waste.
- Don’t lose hope in the Mercy of Allāh
- Always be grateful to Allāh
- Only the intelligent take heed of the lessons from the stories of the previous nations mentioned in the Qur’ān.
- Recite this du‘ā frequently:
فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَنْتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
‘O the Creator of the heavens & the earth! You are my guardian in this world and the Hereafter, give me death as a Muslim and join me with the pious.’
